Kibana Dashboard & Visualization Migration

This guide will show you how to migrate the current dashboards and visualizations from other Kibana deployments, both managed and self-hosted.

This guide assumes that you have already Indexed data in the Storage Overview section and completed the Refinery Index Views section. If you have not yet completed either of those steps, it is important to go back and reference that documentation.

Migrating Older Kibana Visualization's

  • Navigate to Visualize in Kibana
  • Click the + icon to create a Visualization
  • Select the visualization type
  • Choose your index
  • Click Save
By clicking Save this will immediately create a CHAOSSEARCH index ID
  • Navigate to Management
  • Click Saved Objects
  • Select Visualizations and the New visualization that was just created

Near the top of the screen, users will see:

Once you've created and copied your Index ID, you can now port over the remaining items from your legacy Kibana or legacy managed Kibana.
